This is found in north Africa,
Spain and southern France with an out flung population in western
Sicily. In Sicily there is speculation that this subspecies, pherusa,
is an evolutionary intermediate between occitanciaoccitancia to the west and the Italian Marbled White, arge, to the east.
In north Africa it is
common in Morocco in May. It is also widespread and common in places in southern
France at the same time. The brown lines on the underside hindwing are
distinctive to this species.
